The application progress of romiplostim in cancer treatment-induced thrombocytopenia

Cancer treatment-induced thrombocytopenia(CTIT) has attracted significant clinical attention due to its high incidence, refractory and prolonged course, and potential for serious consequences. As a second-generation thrombopoietin receptor agonist, romiplostim has shown broad prospects for clinical application. This review systematically summarizes the progress of romiplostim in the treatment of CTIT, including its drug structure, specific mechanisms of action,and current status of clinical use. From a clinical perspective, it further explores dosing patterns, evaluates the safety of romiplostim from multiple angles, and highlights existing limitations in current research, such as the lack of clinical evidence in hematologic malignancies and pediatric populations, insufficient studies on dose reduction, and unclear timing for drug discontinuation.
